Starter Locs - Comb Coils: Week 5 Update

WEEK 5 UPDATE

Week 5 people, woopty whoop! I'm still in love with my choice even though there is no telling how long that will last. If you believe what some loc bloggers call the "ugly phase" to be a certainty, there may be a point along the #locjourney where I want to quit. My look is far from refined or polished, so I say, "bring it on" (I hope I don't have to eat these words). In high school it was the "just rolled out of bed" look, until I lopped it down to a pixie right before graduation. Easy and breezy, and when I wanted a little length, it got braided and weavy. I have since developed a need to live presently, truthfully, and simply. Learning to recognize true people, experiences, growth, and enjoy the simple pleasures, blessings, and joys of life, has become my main focus.

While that may seem a like a tall order for any 21st century human, applying these principles to my hair routine seemed a manageable start. There is beauty in the liberation of my hair, at any stage and there is nothing "ugly" about a crown lush with healthy new growth. I am totally #hereforit . Now, when I wake up to overcast skies, hot and humid conditions, or am just pressed for time, there is no anxiety, I just do a light spritz with water, give it a shake and get on my way.
