Hello and welcome back to thefree! So...tomorrow will officially be, my 3rd week rocking #combcoil #starterlocs. Woot woot!
I have been doing my homework on whether to wash or naw for my first re-twist. There seems to be at least two schools of thought on that. Some feel a clean scalp fosters growth and keeps strands residue free. Clarified, non-oily hair is supposed to fuse faster than oiled or sebum covered follicles. Others feel that while water can ensure squeaky scalp and tresses, it also makes the unraveling of your twists a certainty, especially if your starters are #combcoils like mine. Like most things, I think this debate may simply be a case of, "everythang ain't for every damn body" or "to each his own" blah, blah. I am confident that most of my coiled ends are fairly secure and can take light water pressure and agitation, so clean it I will.
Another idea I have been toying with is to twist it myself, save a few bucks. Trust me, when my coils have more buds and knots, I will definitely be touching up at home but for now, I will have to get by with a little help from my friends. I like the amount of locs I have currently and want to preserve my parts. I might have started my locs sooner, if I was more confident in my ability to make even sections. Sadly I am not that skilled, or flexible.
Check back this weekend to help me celebrate 21 days of that #loclife and see how my wash and touch-up turns out. #stayfree
